Gifted and Talented Music Concert
On Wednesday the 28 February, there was a Gifted and
Talented Concert at Norwood School involving the South Lambeth
Gifted and Talented Cluster which are: Bishop Thomas Grant, Dunraven
School, St Martin-in-the-Fields School, La Retraite School and The
Norwood School. It was a very enjoyable evening where students from
all the 5 schools demonstrated musical excellence throughout the
performances. There was a vocal 'Voi che sapete '- Mozart, an upper
school vocal Ensemble : 'you raise me up' and a 6th form Jazz group-
'Desafinado' which were performed by the Dunraven students. Our
thanks go to Ms Blackler and Ms Bleach for all their hard work in
making this concert such a success. Next year however, there will
be a slight change to the Gifted and Talented concert in that
students from our link with one of the schools in China will also be
coming over to perform at that concert.
Young
Cultural Creators
The year

Creators project with Ms. Jessup and Ms. K. Smith had a visit from
the author Bridget Crowley on Tuesday 27th February. After the
students recent visit to The Wallace Collection, art gallery in
order to acquire information and research to enable them to write a
short story they had completed their first draft for Bridget to see.
Ms. Crowley was very pleased with their results, the
writing was of excellent quality
and the |
students had produced such exciting ideas
to inform their writing. The students will now develop a visual
piece to support the writing, this will ultimately be shown at an
exhibition at the Streatham Library, and information on dates will
be noted in a future newsletter.
Young at Art Photography Workshop
Twelve Dunraven students across the year groups from year 9 to 12
were able to participate in a three-day photographic workshop in the
last half term. They worked with a professional Photographer
Anastasia Graham and Ms K Smith from the Dunraven art department.
They were instructed in the basics of using digital photography,
were taken on a field trip to the Southbank in order to take
photographs and finally were able to learn how to manipulate their
images through computer software. The students enjoyed their three
days and were able to complete the three days with a folder of
photographs and a CD of their work.
