New A Level students start course with Monologues
Posted on: 01 Oct 2020Our new A Level students have started the year with a bang. Endless enthusiasm, skill and dedication has kept us all focussed and feeling a bit more 'normal'. Well... apart from the fact that they couldn't invite in a live audience!
Each student chose their own monologue that they felt suited them and could demonstrate clear characterisation, vocal and physical skills. As part of their course students will perform a group piece and a monologue to an external examiner in year 13 so we felt what better way to start it all off.
The students have chosen monologues from a range of contemporary plays from the one woman play now TV hit Fleabag by Phoebe Waller-Bridge to Arinze Kene's Little Baby Jesus which follows the lives of three inner city teenagers on the verge of adulthood to The Jungle by Joe Murphy and Joe Robertson that examines the lives of characters living in the migrant camps in Calais, each student exploring a new play, playwright or style of performance, and for one student a new scouse accent!
We can't wait to show you more work from this talented, hardworking bunch and hope that we see you in the building sooner rather than later, after all, what is theatre without its audience?
